Still here!

My friend S. had her baby on Wednesday, and sounds like it was a piece of cake! My other friend, K., had her son on New Year's Eve (three weeks early). E. had her son(late) just the other day, and J. had her daughter a week early. Congrats to all of them, and here's hoping hearing these stories gives Eva some incentive to get out!

She's really snuggled in up there. We had a non-stress test today, where they hooked me up to a fetal monitor and watch the baby's heartrate and my uterus for contractions. All was fine. Then my midwife checked my cervix and found that I am "still pretty thick." So not much is happening. My next appointment will be wednesday, when we will talk about inducing.

In other news, I kicked butt in Scrabble last night!

Now I'm Ready

Everyday I get something new to complete baby prep. These are not things I need, mind you, but things that make me say, "OK! NOW I'm ready!"

Today's purchase? Travel Scrabble. You know for my hospital stay. Of course Bill's not a big Scrabble person, so who do I expect is going to play with me? The baby?

No matter. Now I Really AM ready!
I am only one day past my due date but I am already feeling incredibly stressed. Mainly because I have an deadline I need to meet! Baby won't be on my insurance and the program we will be using accepts applications for the 1st of the following month up through the 15th of the one before. Already baby will be uninsured for a period between the time she comes and Feb 1st, but if she doesn't arrive by the middle of next week, I am going to miss the deadline and will face more than a month with an uninsured newborn.

I want to do it all naturally, no epi, but I am thinking I might need to be induced, and that increases the probability of interventions and more pain. Plus I have no idea if I can get an induction scheduled before the end of next week, which will be too late!

I just feel like I am making no progress at all! Plus I skidded my car into a snowbank this am to avoid hitting two deer...and you would think that would send me into labor, but no. (Of course I was only going about 20 miles an hour pre-skid.)
